About the Show
It's easy to find a beautiful flower. Flowers by nature are pleasing to humans. But we cut them, label them, define them as flowers or degrade them as weeds. Force them to perform in vases according to our whim of aesthetics, stressing their existence, shortening their lives.

Kuroda uses the flower to represent human egos, angry when crossed, flawed, toiling for their own identities, freedom, expression. Using abstraction, many different styles including collage, Kuroda's flowers are found interacting in relationships from conflict to unity. This first image features General Mao Zedong.

Kuroda created paintings in his new studio Point Kuroda Seitaro hosted by hpgrp gallery New York. These pieces depicting how flowers might really feel will be offered for a very special price of $500.

About Seitaro Kuroda
One of the most influential artists of modern Japan since the late 60's, Seitaro Kuroda is a genre unto himself. He is an innovator and his activities are genuinely border-less. His paintings are in all major art museums around the world. His drawings appear in scores of books and magazines. His design work spans the gamut from buildings, stores and interiors to logos, t-shirts, posters, CD covers - just about anything you can print on.

Kuroda collaborates with musicians and artists from all over the world in performances he calls "Live Painting." Kuroda improvises with rhythm and sound, creating a truly unique avant-guard art form that can remind one of artists like Haring, Basquiat and Picasso. Kuroda is pleased to have an art space in New York to create anew, featuring never before seen paintings from his private collection.
